Abe Lincoln and Junie B. Jones

I know that this has been the focus of almost all of my blogs so far so I hate to even say it but we still don't have a penny. I can't beleive it. We met with another doctor this week and were very relieved when he told us that he didn't want to do surgery. He said even though it is taking forever it's still moving. He told us to wait another 2 weeks. Now we just hope that it will be all over by then! We're keeping our fingers crossed.

On a different note all together, have any of you or your kids read the Junie B. Jones books? A family member gave Landry a set for Christmas and she LOVES them. I wasn't sure if it would hold her interest since they don't have too many pictures, but she thinks they are great. I enjoy reading them too, they make me laugh because they are almost too true. It became part of our nightly routine to read a couple of chapters. We just finished the set she got and have ordered another set from Scholastic Books. Landry can hardly wait for them to get here.

Our Week In Review

Well another week has come and gone and Honest Abe has yet to make an appearance. We went back for another xray on Monday and that darn thing is still in there - must be a hospitable environment! They are giving us one more week and if we haven't seen it by then we will have to discuss other options - so we are hoping and praying that we will be 1 cent richer by the end of the week!

Other than doctor visits, this week consisted of a couple of Aggie games, the Polar Plunge and MORE snow.

I went with afriend on Thursday and Saturday to the Aggie basketball games. Her husband is a Sports Writer and Jeff is always taking pictures for the magazine so she and I go and take our kids. Landry and Carson are best buds and they love it - plus the moms have a good time too. These games were really exciting as two records were broken - Winningest Coach (226 wins in 10 years) and all time leading scorer (2,127 points) It was fun to be there to see both records broken.

On Saturday, Jeff was very adventurous. He and 3 co-workers took on the Polar Plunge. Yes, it is exactly like it sounds. Mid January at Hyrum reservoir they break a hole in the ice and people jump in. Of course there has to be a reason behind this madness right? It is to raise money for the Special Olympics. The sky was clear and it was freezing cold. I was cold just watching, I couldn't imagine jumping in.

There are different categories; group, costume, and scantily clad. I have to say that the guy in the scantily clad division who wore the bright yellow G-String with the smiley face on it made me laugh right out loud. And poor Landry's eyes about popped out of her head! She thought that was 'disgusting.'

There were all sorts of costumes and people of all ages. I couldn't believe how many little kids did this. Jeff's group dressed up as Herald Journal carriers. They had matching ski hats and the orange and white newspaper carriers. Of course they had to ditch the bags just before jumping in. Way to go Babe - I'm so proud of you!

Last but not least, these are just a couple of pictures of Landry 'Painting' the snow. A little colored water (no yellow, much to her disappointment) and some spray bottles and there was an hour worth of entertainment. Thanks for the great idea Alison!

Our little slot machine

This week I can say I have experienced something I never thought I would. Last Wed. when I picked Landry up from School she burst into tears as soon as I saw her. For the life of me I couldn't get out of her what was wrong. We played 20 questions - Did you get into trouble, was someone mean to you, were you mean to someone, did you have a fight with one of your friends - to no avail. Finally her reply was 'I just had a sad day.' However after some prodding from her dad the next day she admitted that she had found a penny on the floor at school during quiet time. It 'jumped into her mouth and fell down her throat.' So off to the doctor we went for xrays and sure enough there it was. Landry was quite amused to see the penny on the xray. Plus she got a scratch n' sniff sticker for being good. I think she was thinking 'whats the big deal?' Needless to say the weekend was spent at home 'monitoring' her activites. Which may I add; that right there proves a mothers love.

By Monday still no penny so back to the doctor again for another xray and more scratch n' sniff stickers. The penny was still there. More monitoring. While we were there her pediatrician suggested that we should just get her school shots. What the heck, let's make a day of it! So one xray and four shots later, two in each leg, our teary eyed little girl was finally able to go home.

A few hours later I got a phone call from Jeff - he had been in a car accident. Fortunately he was fine other than being thrown around a little and losing his hat. Thank heavens for seat belts. I'm sure that in the morning he will be feeling it more. He was heading home and was getting ready to turn and the lady behind him didn't see and rammed right into him. The Escape help up pretty good, we think there was some damage done to the frame, the bumper will need to be replaced and unless we want the exhaust coming in through the vents I'm pretty sure the tailpipe will need fixing since it is smashed shut. Fortunately everyone walked away without too much harm done other than to the vehicles.

So at the end of the day I am very grateful for a healthy daughter, monitoring or not, and for a husband who was kept safe when things could have been so much worse. I think it's things like this that help remind us how blessed we truly are.

We keep reminding Landry that it's only chocolate coins she can eat not the real thing and that her stomach is not a piggy bank! :o)

Kids say the funniest things

Last night Jeff brought home some Princess Valentines and some Sweethearts for Landry. She was SO excited. For whatever reason she LOVES those darn paper Valentines and every year she wants to buy every kind out there. Plus she wants to keep them forever! When I tucked her in bed last night she said, 'Mom, do you know what I'm going to dream about? My Princess Valentines and sweet, sweet candy!' Who could ask for more, to dream about Valentines and candy?

Attempting to Blog

This will be a new adventure for me. For the last year I have enjoyed reading many of my friends blogs and being able to keep up on what is going on in their lives. It occured to me that while I know what is going on with them I have been too lazy to write, email, or call! So I decided to jump into the world of blogging. I'm hoping that this will help me to stay in touch a little bit better.
