Tea Parties

Landry was introduced to tea parties by her Grandma Hunter. Ever since then she LOVES to have tea parties. I don't know what she likes the best - if it's the mini plates and cups, that she gets to stick her pinkie finger out when she drinks the tea or that she gets to pour the tea over and over and over. She's had tea parties with both Grandmas and Grandpas, her Uncle Marshal, some of her little girlfriends, roped her Dad into it on more than one occasion and Mom. One day she wanted to have one so bad she invited the neighbor boy over. Much to his Dads dismay! And much to Landry's dismay he didn't follow tea party etiquette. She kept telling him that he couldn't talk with his mouth full of muffins and cookies! This last Saturday she had a tea party with her friend Cora. They dressed up in their favorite princess costumes and then decorated crowns and wands and had mini muffins and cookies with their tea.

Crash Eyewitness

This entry is more of a journal entry than anything, so please bear with me. On Friday I was on my way to lunch with my friends Kris and Diane. They were in a different car since I was heading home afterward. I was at the stop light on 6th East (heading South) when all of the sudden I see this Cadillac (heading East) decide to turn onto 6th East from 4th North. However, he either didn't see the truck coming (heading West on 4th North) through the intersection or he thought he could beat him. The next thing I know I hear brakes locking up and the guys in the truck plowed right into the passanger side of the Cadillac. I'm not sure if the guy in the truck was trying to avoid him but when he hit him they were heading straight at me. It was one of those things where I knew what was coming but I didn't have time to do anything. For whatever reason the guy in the Cadillac missed me and the truck stopped with about an inch between our bumpers. When they finally stopped the driver of the truck and I were staring right at each other. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped for a minute! The guys in the truck were ok and so was the gentleman in the Cadilac, however I'm not sure about his wife they were trying to get her out when I was finally able to leave. I hope that she is alright. I'm so glad that Diane and Kris were there with me - it was nice to have friends there to keep me steady. I'm also very grateful that I wasn't hit and that no harm was done to the sexy Contour. As much as I really, really want a new car this wasn't the way I wanted to do it.

Toilet Cleaning Fun?

I had to add this - mostly for future record.....like when she is old enough to know better! Landry LOVES to clean the toilet. If she knows I'm cleaning the bathrooms she always runs in as asks if she can please clean the toilet. I think she just likes to use the toilet brush to swirl the blue water around.

Preschool Graduation

Landry graduated from Preschool last Friday. She was so excited she could hardly stand it. She wanted to invite everyone in the world - because who wouldn't want to go to her graduation? Her Grandma and Grandpa Ralphs made the trip to Logan. She was THRILLED - forget about Mom and Dad, Grandma's here! I can't believe my little girl is going to go to Kindergarten next year - YIKES! She loves school so much and can't wait.

It cracked me up to see all these 4 year olds in their caps and gowns!

There were two groups and they each 'wrote' their own play with the help of their reading teacher. Landry's group was about little red kittens who wanted to make Macaroni and Cheese and had to go to WalMart, Sams Club, and Macys to get their groceries. You can tell where their moms shop!

When they got their diplomas they got to say what they wanted to be when they grow up. Landry said 'I want to be a Cheerleader, Cowgirl, Rock star, and an Artist'

Hmmm, I wonder if this thing is going to do me any good.....

It makes a GREAT telescope!

Waving to her fans

Tangled Mess

I gave Landry this 3 piece hair set that came with a comb, mirror and the dreaded curler brush. I'm not really sure why I thought this was a good idea. I apparently forgot the many, many times I got my own hair tangled up in a brush curling iron - yes I used a brush curling iron back in the day. It worked great with my perm! Let me tell you just looking at that tangled mess just about made me cry. I remembered very well how much it hurts trying to get that out. Who the heck invented this horrible contraption? Needless to say it went straight into the garbage - after we untangled it from her hair.

Mother's Day

When I was little I loved making pictures and the small Dixie cup with dirt and a seed in it for Mother's Day. It was always so exciting to take it home from Primary to give to mom. Now as a Mom I look forward to those things from Landry. She was just so proud and excited to give me her gift. This year she made a card at school - she wrote on the front herself and on the inside was her handprint with this poem:

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But everyday I'm growing...
I'll be grown someday
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away
So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small

I am so happy to be a Mom - it is so much better than I ever imagined. Landry can melt my heart with one look and make me laugh in an instant. I'm also grateful to have such a great Mom. I know that I am so lucky to have a Mom who is also my friend. We have the best times together and I'm so grateful for the relationship/friendship that we have. I know that I can always count on her and that she is always there for me. I love you Mom.

My Handy Little Brothers

I just wanted to say thanks to my brothers Mathew and McKay. They have the unfortunate task of being the Handymen in our family. Therefore they are generally stuck with all my weird requests. Last year McKay built Landry a nice big toy box. It is big enough to hold most of her toys and then we can just shut the lid and not have toys scattered all over the place. After making Landry's he helped Mathew make one for Paityn. This year after Ashley and I started doing bows we found we needed a display. Mathew had the great misfortune of building that for us. It is great - it suits our needs perfectly. And most recently I asked McKay to build me a garbage can cover. I don't have a good place in my kitchen for my garbage can and I refuse to have one of those small ones under the sink - I don't want to take out the garbage 3 times a day! I guess I'm lazy. I knew he didn't really want to do it but I requested it for my Birthday - because I knew he was too nice to tell me no! He and Mathew did it together and it is FABULOUS! I love it! It looks so nice and now you can't see or smell my stupid garbage can. Thanks very much you two - I'm sure I'll have another request soon!
